Dec. 11, 2023 — Maame Adwoa Ankrah was interested in going to Wichita State for its affordability and for the atmosphere of the city of Wichita. While it was first a challenge to adjust to a new culture, she was able to succeed with the support of her peers and mentors and will graduate with her master’s degree in Spanish with no regrets.

Dec. 8, 2023 - Courtney Lockhart enjoys escaping to nearby Lake Afton Park to fish and relax. He works for the Student Outreach and Support/CARE Team in Student Affairs at Wichita State University.

Dec. 08, 2023 — Mariana Vazquez Serna got involved at Wichita State’s and made connections with her peers and professors by joining clubs and attending events on campus, something she advises other students to do as well during their time at WSU. She will work as an associate for an accounting firm after graduating with her BBA in accounting.

Nov. 13, 2023 - Anna Heacock works as an emergency room nurse and runs for the Wichita State University track and field team. Sept. 25, 2023 - Rudd Scholar Bayle Sandy found a sense of community at Wichita State University and enjoyed support from many sources for her academic and extracurricular pursuits. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state’s largest city.

Aug. 28, 2023 - Kathy Downes, dean of University Libraries since 2017, came to Wichita State in 1979 as a biomedical librarian. She will retire this fall semester. Downes played a central role as Ablah Library expanded and the digital services of University Libraries grew in number and importance.

As you return to campus, you will notice construction cranes, dirt moving and updates to existing buildings as work continues to elevate Wichita State as a premier, urban public research university in the United States.

Aug. 4, 2023 — Wichita State University and WSU Tech are key drivers of economic growth, fueling job creation, fostering industry partnerships, and supporting local businesses — and the numbers prove it. According to the 2022 Economic Impact Study, WSU and WSU Tech’s total economic impact in Kansas in 2021 was $1.3 billion.

July 20, 2023 - As Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus approaches its 10th anniversary, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities is recognizing the Innovation Campus’ role in cultivating research and innovation. The APLU today named Wichita State University as one of five finalists for its 11th annual Innovation & Economic Prosperity (IEP) University Awards.
